Embellishing a tutu plate: Sew Fashion Fabric Together

    Time: 3 minutes

This video course walks through making a plate for a 2 piece costume. The skirt was once used under a longline Russian Academy tutu. I use the concentric circles mat from Tutus That Dance to lay out my design and sketch it onto a piece of net. Appliqués are then free-motion stitched to stabilize pieces of fabric to create the petalled design. A mock basque was created and the new plate was incorporated.

    Pattern used for this course:
Tutus That Dance Bodice #2110 (full bodice) or Bodice #2114 (crop top bodice)

Crop tops for dancers can be very tricky. The ability to move freely and stay covered at all times means you need a great bodice pattern. The pattern we use here has a sweetheart neckline and shoulder straps to add a sleeve. The fit of this pattern will give your dancer the confidence she needs.
